Do you think that, in the same way there is an is/ought distinction, there is a material/non-material distinction in which non-material propositions cannot be the sole decider of material propositions (that you must assume a "bridge" that is made between the non-material premise and the material conclusion)? Wouldn't this also mean that idealism and solipsism is actually more consistent with atheist materialism is since materialists still appeal to non-physical ideas like the laws of logic? This would also mean that, in the atheist worldview either: A) The material world exists and that is all that there is since the material cannot create a non-material thing (and the fundamental presuppositions made prior to this worldview are material presuppositions without any reference to anything non-material). B) The non-material world exists and everything is an idealist illusion and the material world doesn't exist outside of the non-material consciousness (and the fundamental presuppositions made prior to this worldview are non-material presuppositions without any reference to anything material). If you say both exist, there are multiple presuppositions made prior to the dualist worldview in atheism, in which material propositions stem from the arbitrary material presuppositions and vice versa. The non-material and material presuppositions have nothing to do with each other?

It's interesting to me how these people will deny the existence of Jesus when there's a lot more evidence for Jesus existing than there is for tons of other historical figures that they would have no issue granting.

What history textbook man (not to be confused with the History Man from Mad Max) is not understanding is that history in any culture, era, etc, records events in a variety of ways before the time of history textbooks. Library of Alexandria, countless scrolls, tablet inscriptions, hieroglyphics, etc, all before the roll out of textbooks.

I came on call a month or two ago, asking how tag proves revelatory theism, Jay pointed out that this is something assumed in the worldview and Gödel's incompleteness theorem shows that any system cannot prove it's own consistency, and modus ponens shows that by affirming 1 statement you affirm an infinite amount of statements. However, if I were to take the contrary position: tag doesn't prove revelatory but merely intentional theism, not to say no revelation exists at all, but it just hasn't been preserved, it seems I can still have justified true belief. I'm curious to see what people think of this argument.

History books contain accurate facts about history, they DON'T contain EVERY fact about history. Shutting down this "why isn't Christian theology taught in a history text book" is that easy, that simple, just because an event, person, place or idea isn't IN a text book doesn't mean it didn't happen or doesnt exist and assuming that these text books SHOULD contain the history of EVERYTHING, and if it's not contained in them then it didn't happen, is just patently absurd. I have a history text book that DOES include biblical figures and events, just depends on who wrote the text book. This argument is silly and easily debunked without even getting into epistemology.

I think one of the difficulties with the atheist guy that jumped on is that he seems to not even be familiar with historical analysis itself. History textbooks are notoriously unreliable, as their content is heavily influenced by the paradigm of the person who is composing it-what events he chooses to or not to highlight. It is probably the most facile argument I have heard yet. Poor guy.

Btw Sam’s argument on 2:79 isn’t that they’re illiterate meaning they can’t write, it means illiterate in the Bible (biblically illiterate), so therefore since they don’t know what’s in the Bible, they wouldn’t be changing it. Instead they write fake books and claim it’s from God (Gnostic fairytales, Talmud, ECT). So the argument is stronger than them simply not being able to write. Someone who doesn’t know the Bible and doesn’t read it isn’t going to be corrupting it. Instead these people write fake books and try to fool people with them.
